Magic Run

This is a game I made for a student challenge at the online Game Institute. It was the first game I programmed using Silverlight and C#. Despite my not going to sleep until 5 AM before the final day of the competition, I still – I should say all the more – enjoyed the result (video).

Raiden vs. Nikkou

This is a game I made for one of the Game Institute challenges. The player flies an aircraft and tries to fight off waves. It was programmed in C++ using DirectX 9. I also built a level editor in Java.

Java 3D World

This image is from my time experimenting with Java3D when I was probably around 14. I ended up creating a framework that was able to load .txt landscape files and map characters to image tiles.

Avoid ‘em All

Avoid’em All is a game I programmed in C++ using DirectX during the course “Graphics Programming with DirectX 9 – I” at the Game Institute . The goal was more to study the technology than to build a fun game, though I was quite happy with this first try.

Satellite Defense

When I just started programming in C++, I really enjoyed making small games. During my course “C++ Programming for Game Developers – Module II” at the Game Institute, I designed the one you see in this image. The player’s goal is to protect the satellite from the alien invaders by moving the ‘shield’ between the planets to bounce of the flying grenade.

ACED Game Engine

While working on my games I found it increasingly useful to organize re-usable code in libraries. This was one of my early attempts to create a simple game engine using my newly gained skills in C++ and DirectX.  It allowed the entire initialization of the game and graphics engine to be done using a simple .xml file. This saved me many, many hours of work for each game after that!

“Medieval Game”

This was a game I started programming for a Game Institute challenge. It was supposed to be a Medieval RTS game, but I unfortunately never finished it. I did however finish the city building functionality. The game is tile-based, and programmed using C++ and Win32.

“nameless” 3D game

The internet is an amazing place, where I met the most amazing people. I especially loved working with some of my American friends. Though it was usually 2AM for me, the effort was well worth it! This was an image of our first, incomplete design for a 2D/3D game engine.

Teaching App

This is an app I found while browsing through my archives! The fact that I can only vaguely  remember working on it, the way it works and looks, and the fact that it is programmed in Java, tells me that I was about 11 years old, and this is probably one of the first programs I made using a ‘real’ programming language.
